I love reading US magazine scoops for many reasons - usually a combination of line-up and boredom - but my number one reason has to be the useless information provided by anonymous sources. Case and point, I just read a juicy scoop about that person from the show about the wealthy (Lauren Conrad) and the man from the show about the weathly (Chase Crawford). Apparently they were caught kissing on the mouth in the public sphere. This is exciting news because they are both attractive people who deserve each others’ mouthes, but also because we got to read the following:

“There’s always been an attraction between them,” an insider tells Us of the longtime pals. “[But] Lauren is just enjoying herself. She’s not taking anything too seriously!”

See, isn’t that the best? It’s like listening to someone you know talk about someone else you know, but all casual and flighty. I don’t know about you, but when I read that quotation I imagine hand gestures and a letting-you-in-on-a-little-secret tone. But why? Perhaps, some readers get nervous. “WHAT? Lauren’s dating again! Didn’t she just break up?!” And the other person’s like “Oh it’s no big deal! She’s just enjoying herself!” And then the other person puts down her paper bag, and every thing is fine. I guess we like the idea of being in on anything and everything. Who cares if we’ll literally never meet the person in question, it’s just nice to feel like you’re included.
